An art house style documentary inspired by films like Baraka and Koyaanisqatsi.

SYNOPSIS

"Crystal Island" is a poignant exploration of humanity's place within nature's grandeur. Silcocks prompts us to delve into the depth of our individual emotional landscapes, to confront our egos, our capacity for love, surrender and let go to mother nature.

zero budget

Crystal Island was created on a zero budget. It was an important principle of production to not include any exchange of money for the production of this movie. It’s open knowledge that if the film gains revenue it will be split with the cast and crew.

DIRECTORS background

Ross won his first award for filmmaking at 10 years old, his debut nature animation gained first place in a local competition and won his family $150. He now balances work between creating music for music arists and filming nature.

location

It was important for the energy of the film to be captured in this one single place which if you’ve been there you will know it tells a story of its own. Koh Phangan, Thailand. A short dream sequence involving the Elephant was shot in Khao Sok, Thailand.
